UNSDG

UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG)

UNSDG and Next Generation Infrastructure

7 - Affordable and Clean Energy

  • Reduce the administrative costs of permitting and construction
  • Increase risk management capabilities to reduce exposure to lenders for better terms.

9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

  • Accelerate the implementation of digital construction management systems, public and private.
  • Model utilizes open standards so software developers have no constraints, trademarks or exclusivity to implement data exchange.

11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities

  • Model Digital Ecosystem can be easily replicated without changing software platforms.
  • SoalrApp is ready to be implemented to help reduce administrative costs and speed up timelines for permitting solar projects

12 - Responsible Consumption and Production

  • The demand for energy will put pressure on generation and meeting demand will be a challenge. Enabling the production of clean energy to be more efficient so clean energy can be price competitive to fossil fuels will drive responsible consumption and production.

13 - Climate Action

  • Accelerating the construction of all clean energy infrastructure projects that connect to the smart grid is direct climate action.

17 - Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

  • Expansion of the internationally recognized XBRL Taxonomy for infrastructure related data elements will promote and enable global partnerships.

PG&E Innovation Pitch

Enabling Digital Ecosystems and Digital Construction Management Systems

The first pilot is a simple battery install at the Petaluma Creamery.

  • Minor project and all onsite, so a traditional small undertaking with no issues.

  • The group will be leveraging the SolarApp digital permitting platform to expand the functionality of that permit data set to secure better terms for project finance, insurance and surety.

  • The construction will be monitored on the FISTech platform, and standardized data will be used for performance modeling.

The second pilot, and focus of the pitch, is a solar farm on a coastal ranch generating and transmitting energy for the urban Petaluma Creamery utilizing private underground transition to overcome the congestion on the existing overhead lines as a model that is integrated and coordinated with the PG&E grid.

  • Requires more complicated permitting, which also provides capital markets with better underwriting information.

  • Creates model for changes to policies and procedures relating to energy transmission that will benefit multiple approaches.

  • Involves coordination with Caltrans and various local jurisdictions along the route.

PG&E Innovation Pitch - Transitioning to digital and privatizing energy generation

Challenge: Privatized infrastructure for transmission of energy requires new approaches and possibly legislation to enable some energy projects to go forward, including securing necessary permits from various regulatory agencies and utilities.

Problem Statements:

11. Reducing cost and complexity of underground construction

Pitch: Earth Grid

12. Streamlining design and estimation for routine projects

Pitch: Engage with PG&E with the Orange Button collaboration group to work on standardized infrastructure data by demonstrating:

  • How data from the permit process can be used to streamline routine projects.

Petaluma Creamery battery install – Traditional onsite project.

  • How data from the digital permit process can be used on private infrastructure projects.

Private underground transmission from coastal solar farm to urban Petaluma Creamery

  • How the model digital PPA agreement with Petaluma Creamery utilizes Orange Button data for the traditional battery install translates to a standardized PPA agreement for the solar farm at the ranch as a digital model for next generation infrastructure.

  • How the ten mile private transmission underground infrastructure from the coastal solar farm to the creamery utilizes Orange Button data for project monitoring for securing finance, insurance and surety
