On June 30th at George Mason University, we invite you to join a remarkable gathering that bridges the past, present, and future of human ingenuity.
As part of Asteroid Day, we will host a special screening of a long‑lost Apollo‑era film. A rediscovered piece of history that captures the optimism, courage, and shared purpose that carried humanity to the Moon.
The Apollo Program was not just a mission to the Moon. It was the first modern infrastructure moonshot. It unified government, industry, academia, and the public around a single purpose. It created new supply chains, new data systems, new materials, and new ways of working. It showed us that when we align around a mission, we can build what has never been built before.
That same spirit guides the work we launch on June 30th.
This year marks the debut of the Construction Finance Data (CFD) Working Group at the National Science Foundation’s Digital Twin Research, Innovation & Collaboration Hub (DT RICH) at GMU.
CFD brings together leaders across construction, finance, insurance, and digital technology to build an open‑standards‑based digital ecosystem, one designed to benefit all stakeholders without proprietary lock‑in, exclusivity, or endorsement requirements.
We will also feature presentations from the Startup AI Seed Contract participants, who will share the ADCMS business case for helping State DOTs transition from today’s low‑quality PDF Application‑for‑Payment documents to high‑integrity, machine‑readable AFP data.
This shift is foundational to next generation infrastructure enabled by AI across the nation’s interconnected infrastructure portfolio. A holistic community approach that synergizes transportation, water, agriculture, energy infrastructure as a single built environment.
And most importantly:
Asteroid Day is an open invitation for stakeholders to join the CFD Working Group and participate in the review‑and‑comment process to establish a standardized Application for Payment in XBRL. A standard intended for future ISO recognition.
This is your opportunity to help shape a national and global framework for trustworthy, interoperable infrastructure data.
Our theme
GAO as the Digital Foundation, Moon Base as the Vision, and AI‑Empowered Digital Ecosystems as the Enabler
AI‑empowered digital ecosystems provide the capability to turn that vision into reality.
Just as the Apollo generation achieved its moonshot, we now stand at the threshold of our own era of possibility. Our own moonshot.
We hope you will join us on June 30th to help shape it.
